Overview
A senior financial analyst role is available to perform complex financial analysis and planning to support management in budgeting, financial goal setting, projections, and fiscal objective achievement. This position involves financial and planning activities across various functions including budgeting, revenue and expenditure monitoring, reconciliations, and consolidation. The analyst will extract financial data from multiple accounting and information systems, generate reports, and conduct complex statistical cost and financial analyses to improve financial performance and compliance. Data-driven recommendations will be provided to assist critical financial business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and review financial data to evaluate past performance and assist in financial projections and business decision-making.
- Analyze, coordinate, and consolidate departmental financial information for annual operating and capital budgets and five-year plans.
- Extract and analyze complex financial data; conduct studies to determine costs and financial results of business activities to improve operational and financial effectiveness.
- Review financial needs and explore alternative financing methods.
- Make budget adjustments and implement cost improvement measures using appropriate cost rates such as indirect and benefit rates.
- Prepare and present budget proposals to senior management.
- Develop financial systems, structures, and controls for tracking, validation, and reporting; implement quality control and process improvements.
- Review proposed operating and financial plans, including program increases and estimated costs; recommend actions to improve financial performance.
- Evaluate capital expenditure proposals, profit plans, operating records, and financial statements.
- Oversee moderately complex to complex budget accounts; ensure appropriate expenditure of funds and advise stakeholders on resolving funding shortfalls.
- Stay informed on laws and regulations impacting compliance; serve as a resource for administrative and financial staff.
- Ensure internal and external compliance using knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and financial accounting systems.
- Utilize software applications such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics tools to assemble, manipulate, and format data and reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible financial experience.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education as per equivalency guidelines.
- Strong analytical and modeling skills.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary range: $62,900 - $110,100 annually (targeted at $95,000; commensurate with experience).
- Full-time position.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Exempt status.
