Overview
A remote-first organization is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to join their Revenue Accounting team. This role focuses on accounting excellence, technological innovation, and improving revenue accounting processes. The Senior Revenue Accountant will be responsible for key aspects of the monthly close, financial reporting, and compliance, ensuring proper revenue recognition under ASC 606. The position involves cross-functional collaboration to support scalable revenue operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage key components of the monthly close process
- Prepare financial reports and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Apply revenue accounting principles, particularly ASC 606, to ensure accurate revenue recognition
- Collaborate with Finance, Billing, and Operations teams to resolve data and process issues
- Support process improvements and scalability in revenue accounting operations
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including direct revenue accounting under ASC 606
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close processes
- Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
- Strong communication skills with experience working cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience at a high-growth startup
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or currently pursuing CPA
- Experience with revenue automation or systems implementations
- Public accounting experience
- Hands-on expertise with large or complex datasets to identify discrepancies
- Passion for problem solving and process improvements using emerging tools and technologies such as AI
