Overview
A leading petroleum refining organization is seeking a Commercial Pricing Supervisor to oversee the design, development, and maintenance of forward and market price curves for all physical and derivative products within its trading portfolio. This role provides leadership and strategic direction to the risk pricing team, ensuring best practices in curve design and compliance with internal and external requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of forward and market price curves within the Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system.
- Manage the commercial pricing/risk team responsible for market and forward curve creation, calibration, validation, and reporting.
- Allocate responsibilities, manage daily workflow, and support professional development of team members.
- Supervise analysts in configuring price curves, market data, and valuation parameters, ensuring compliance with approved methodologies and business requirements.
- Provide expertise and oversight for complex derivatives, structured products, and custom valuation models.
- Validate portfolio valuations and support reconciliation processes with Finance, Accounting, and Treasury.
- Collaborate with Commercial, Risk Control, IT, and Accounting departments to drive process improvements and automation related to pricing and risk management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, SOX controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in design, testing, and implementation of ETRM system upgrades and new analytical tools.
- Champion data integrity, documentation, and governance best practices for curve and pricing data.
- Serve as subject matter expert for ETRM portfolio valuation, price exposure, and risk analytics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of related experience, or a minimum of 7 years in commodity market risk management with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of exchange derivative contract specifications (e.g., ICE, CME) and industry price reporting methodologies (e.g., Argus, Platts, OPIS).
- Experience establishing risk processes, managing IT systems, and leading organizational performance improvements in risk pricing.
- Comprehensive understanding of energy commodity market structures, focusing on crude oil, refined products, and related commodities such as RINs.
- Advanced proficiency with ETRM software platforms (e.g., ION RightAngle) and analytical tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Strong quantitative skills in finance, economics, mathematics, or engineering.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, including communication, teamwork, conflict management, and mentoring.

- Experience with complex derivatives and structured product valuation.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and process automation initiatives.

Location
