US Accountant (Remote, Full-Time)

Overview

A growing U.S.-based fractional CFO firm serving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other service businesses across the United States is seeking an experienced accounting professional. This role involves supporting multiple U.S. clients with complex accounting tasks beyond basic bookkeeping or data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close processes
• Complete full balance sheet reconciliations
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Prepare journal entries and manage accrual accounting
• Generate accurate financial statements for CFO review
• Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously

Requirements

• Experience working at a CPA firm, accounting firm, bookkeeping firm, or fractional CFO firm serving multiple U.S. clients
• Ability to independently reconcile entire balance sheets
• Strong problem-solving skills to investigate and explain accounting differences
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting and month-end close procedures
• Clear communication skills in spoken and written English
• Proactive in asking questions and collaborating on accounting issues
• Communicates early when encountering challenges rather than waiting until deadlines
• Takes ownership of work and follows through on commitments
• Ability to clearly explain accounting issues and resolution steps

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ServiceTitan software

This Position May Not Be Suitable If

• You have only worked for one company
• Your experience is primarily data entry, accounts payable, or accounts receivable
• You have difficulty explaining accounting issues in English
• You prefer waiting for instructions instead of independently researching and solving problems
