Overview
This role is a fully remote VP Finance position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. The organization is seeking an experienced finance leader to elevate and lead financial operations while scaling growth following a Series A raise.
Responsibilities
- Strategic forecasting & modeling: Own and refine financial projection models (revenue, headcount, cash-flow) to drive the strategic roadmap toward cash-flow break-even post-Series A.
- First 90-day deliverables:
- Rapidly assess current financial controls.
- Refine the existing 18-month cash-flow forecast.
- Establish a streamlined variance analysis reporting cadence for the executive team.
- Team leadership & delegation: Manage and mentor the existing Finance & HR Manager and Recruiter to ensure smooth day-to-day operations (bookkeeping, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close) so focus remains on high-impact initiatives.
- Fundraising & board strategy: Partner with the CEO and COO for venture fundraising by driving data room preparation, cap table scenario modeling, and presenting high-level performance metrics directly to the board.
- Healthcare commercial analysis: Develop payer- and partner-facing financial models, including unit economics and contract structure analysis for specialty virtual care services, to support commercial and partnership discussions.
- Cash & resource strategy: Advise leadership on cash management strategy, banking relationships, and optimal budget allocation across clinical and operational departments.
- Financial reporting & controls: Oversee accurate monthly and quarterly financial reporting and maintain internal controls suitable for a scaling, venture-backed environment, including variance and scenario analyses.
- Compensation & benefits strategy: Oversee the financial architecture of HR operations, including compensation banding, annual benefits renewal negotiations, and payroll compliance.
- Headcount planning & HR budgeting: Partner with the Finance & HR Manager to model headcount costs, track employee acquisition spend, ensure HR technology stack alignment with the operational budget, and determine staffing projections.
- Payroll & compliance oversight: Serve as the final executive escalation point for payroll execution, state-level employment tax compliance, and benefit program funding for a remote workforce.
