Overview

This role serves as the CFO’s direct finance partner and liaison across the organization. The position leads FP&A and executive financial reporting for a multi-entity emergency medical transportation business, with responsibilities spanning budgeting, forecasting, modeling, sponsor reporting, lender/covenant compliance, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the CFO’s finance partner and liaison across the organization, advising on financial strategy, performance, and capital allocation; represent Finance in executive and sponsor discussions.
  • Own the end-to-end annual budget and monthly forecast processes across all operating companies, including assumptions, supporting analyses, and final presentation to the private equity sponsor, with focus on labor/overtime, revenue, and capex.
  • Lead financial statement generation, consolidation, and analysis; ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting and driver-based variance analysis (volume, rate, mix) to explain results to executive leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for private equity sponsor requests: receive, prioritize, manage each request through completion, and ensure timely, consistent, and accurate responses.
  • Lead financial modeling that supports strategic decisions, including RFP bids, M&A diligence and post-close integration, transport-volume growth scenarios, cost-reduction initiatives, staffing and labor strategy, and labor negotiations.
  • Partner with the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) team to determine monthly net revenue and oversee analysis of payor mix, collections, and revenue variances; lead revenue recognition review in coordination with the CFO and external auditors.
  • Own monthly management reporting packages for operators, executive leadership, and the private equity sponsor; lead preparation of Board of Directors materials and other executive-level presentations.
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital analysis, and liquidity management in support of the CFO.
  • Lead quarterly credit agreement / covenant compliance reporting and serve as a day-to-day finance contact for lenders, including review of calculation workpapers and response to lender inquiries.
  • Support the external audit and tax process by coordinating with outside auditors and advisors on audit planning, deliverables, and technical accounting matters.
  • Build, develop, and lead the FP&A team; set standards for advanced Excel / Power Query models, reporting quality, and review discipline.
  • Drive finance process and internal control improvements (e.g., approval authority, budget and close processes) to scale reporting as the organization grows through acquisition.
  • Act as a trusted finance advisor to operating leaders by translating data into decisions for non-finance leaders.
  • Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, Microsoft Copilot) to accelerate and improve the quality of financial analysis and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • 10+ years of progressive FP&A, corporate finance, or finance leadership experience, including 3+ years leading budgeting and forecasting for a multi-entity organization.
  • Direct experience in a private-equity-backed company, including budget presentations to, and day-to-day information requests from, a sponsor or board.
  • Demonstrated experience producing consolidated financial statements and driver-based variance analysis (volume, rate, mix) for executive leadership.
  • Experience with lender reporting, including credit agreement and covenant compliance calculations.
  • Advanced financial modeling skills (Excel and Power Query), including M&A, bid, and scenario models.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition, and experience working with external auditors.
  • Strong executive communication skills: able to present to a CFO, board, and PE sponsor and translate financial data into decisions for non-finance leaders.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and set standards for a finance team.
  • Sound judgment and discretion with confidential financial information, and the ability to manage multiple deadline-driven priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced degree in a related field.
  • Healthcare services experience, ideally ambulance/medical transportation (EMS, NEMT) or other healthcare services with a high payor mix.

  • M&A diligence and post-close integration experience.
  • Multi-state, multi-entity operating company experience.
  • Experience with consolidation and reporting systems (e.g., ERP and BI tools) and using AI tools to improve analysis.
