Overview

This role involves processing domestic and international wire transfer transactions accurately and promptly for corporate, commercial, and retail customers. The position requires ensuring compliance with federal regulations, internal policies, and risk controls while providing high-quality service. The Wire Transfer Specialist also plays a critical role in fraud prevention, OFAC compliance, and operational risk management related to wire activities.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to wire transfer requests and implement documented controls to meet departmental objectives.
  • Develop, document, maintain, and ensure compliance with standard procedures for:
    • Authentication of outgoing wire transfer requests.
    • Timely processing and posting of incoming wire transfers.
    • Processing outgoing wire transfers, verifying legitimacy and fund availability.
    • Performing recorded wire transfer authorizations, ensuring legitimacy, authorization, and proper archiving.
    • Internal approval processes for outgoing wire requests.
    • Monitoring and managing cash position and correspondent bank activity, including daily Federal Reserve account management.
    • Continuity of wire services during disasters or business interruptions.
    • Monitoring and reporting wire department activity, including performance to budget and wire volumes.
    • Compliance with laws and regulations governing wire transfers (e.g., BSA/OFAC).
  • Develop strong knowledge of wire transfer systems, formats, Fedwire, SWIFT, and clearing channels.
  • Complete assigned training within expected timeframes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with banking platforms and common office software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight trips.
  • Ability to set goals, organize work, and manage task completion effectively.
  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods.
