Overview
This position is for an Accountant I within the Financial Affairs Accounting department at a university located in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The role involves processing various accounting transactions, assisting with budget activities, and preparing financial reports. The position is fully remote but requires the candidate to live within a 100-mile radius of Fayetteville to attend in-person meetings as needed.
Responsibilities
- Enter internal and external requisitions, travel and personal reimbursements, expense/fund transfers
- Order supplies and process P & T card charges
- Process bids and RFPs for designated departments
- Initiate entry of all transactions into the college accounting system
- Review accounting transactions for compliance with university and state regulations
- Assist management with planning and budget activities
- Perform receiving entries and accounts payable functions for designated cost centers
- Reconcile internal accounting system records
- Prepare monthly financial reports for deans, directors, and department heads
- Review transactions to ensure compliance with university, state, and federal purchasing regulations
- Assist in developing new accounting procedures to resolve data processing issues
- Communicate regularly with college staff, deans, and vendors regarding financial affairs
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related business field from an accredited institution
- At least one year of experience in accounting or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in accounting or a related field
- Experience using Workday
- Experience using QuickBooks accounting software
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of university and state procurement rules and regulations
- Understanding of accounting principles and data management
- Customer service skills
- Ability to apply policies, procedures, and regulations relevant to departments and the college
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $46,383.00 annually
