Overview

This role involves supporting a portfolio of small and mid-sized manufacturing clients, including job shops, discrete manufacturers, process manufacturers, and fabricators. The position focuses on manufacturing accounting tasks such as standard costing, inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, and bridging operations with finance. The candidate will work closely with Controllers and CFOs as part of a delivery team.

Responsibilities

Client Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting for manufacturing clients
  • Maintain cost accounting structures including standard costs, bills of materials (BOMs), and overhead allocation
  • Track and reconcile raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory
  • Conduct monthly inventory reconciliations and support inventory accounts with documented processes
  • Prepare and review COGS analysis and gross margin reporting by product line
  • Manage accounts receivable and support collection efforts on outstanding invoices
  • Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Make month-end closing entries with proper inventory and cost documentation
  • Monitor material cost variances and labor efficiency variances; communicate findings proactively to Controllers and CFOs
  • Process payroll with manufacturing-specific considerations, including shift differentials
  • Maintain robust internal controls across client accounts
  • Utilize current processes and tools to proactively identify and prevent fraud in client accounting processes
  • Meet or exceed billable hours goals while maintaining service excellence

Internal Responsibilities

  • Complete internal tasks including time tracking, capacity planning, and quarterly initiatives
  • Participate actively in the organization's brand ambassador program
  • Uphold security practices to protect client assets

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of accounting experience with significant exposure to the manufacturing industry
  • Experience in a multi-client or Client Accounting Services (CAS) environment preferred
  • Hands-on experience with cost accounting, inventory valuation, and COGS analysis
  • Familiarity with standard costing, BOM structures, and overhead allocation methodologies
  • Experience with manufacturing or ERP accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously
  • Experience with internal controls and fraud prevention

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000
