Underwriter (Warwick R.I. or Kennesaw GA)

Overview

This role is for a Full-Time Non-QM Underwriter with an onsite work environment and the opportunity to collaborate with a forward-thinking team.

Compensation includes a competitive salary of $68,500 to $90,000, plus a quarterly discretionary bonus plan.

Onsite work location preferences:

• Warwick, RI or Kennesaw, GA

Remote consideration:

Responsibilities

• Render credit decisions on incoming applicants in line with internal policies.
• Underwrite mortgage commitments.
• Verify supporting documentation submitted by Mortgage Brokers.
• Ensure compliance with service level agreements.
• Review and analyze loan documentation to support informed lending decisions in accordance with company policies and guidelines.
• Review complex tax returns.
• Maintain strong communication to resolve complicated issues with minimal supervision.
• Manage workload effectively to support a high daily loan volume.

Requirements

• Knowledge of real estate lending and loan structuring.
• Familiarity with valuation methodologies.
• Ability to review and analyze documentation for each loan to make an informed lending decision.
• Ability to review complex tax returns.
• Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision and engage with the supervisor to resolve complicated issues.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management skills to plan and organize a high daily loan volume.
• Detail-oriented, collaborative team approach.
• Minimum 5 years of recent experience underwriting non-conforming residential mortgage loans.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with state and federal lending regulations, including: Ability to Repay, RESPA, Reg B, Reg Z, Fair Lending, etc.
• Proficiency with tools including Encompass, Salesforce, and Excel.
• Familiarity with real estate markets.
• Knowledge of borrower financials, credit risk, and KYC/AML compliance.
