Accountant

Overview

The organization is seeking an Accountant to serve as the primary owner for tax and reporting compliance. This role works in a fast-changing environment, managing multiple projects and initiatives and working independently in a remote setting. The Accountant reports to the Controller.

This position is open to applicants in the continental United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tax reporting and compliance (state, local, and federal). Employees are located in 43 states; utilize Avalara and the payroll processor.
• Handle employee onboarding/offboarding and payroll reporting into NetSuite GL.
• Validate payroll and related tax compliance for reconciliation into NetSuite.
• Manage annual contractor reporting (1099s).
• Assist with financial, tax, workers’ compensation, and 401k audits.
• Assist with preparation and/or review of daily entries and month-end reconciliations.
• Document accounting processes and procedures to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Support the Corporate Controller and Accounting Team with additional projects as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related area.
• At least 3 years of general accounting experience, preferably within a SaaS company.
• Professional experience with NetSuite and Avalara, preferably within a SaaS company.
• Understanding of US GAAP accounting principles.
• Experience with multi-state tax compliance requirements.
• Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables and v-lookup formulas.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable communicating with individuals at all levels of an organization.
• Based in the United States and authorized to work without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Benefits

• Standard base pay range: $75,000 - $90,000.
• Actual salary will vary depending on the position offered, experience, performance, and location.
