Accountant - Remote

Overview

This role is for an Accountant on the property management client accounting team, responsible for full-cycle accounting for various commercial real estate properties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all aspects of the financial statement package for a set of commercial properties, including creating and posting journal entries, general ledger review, and completion of backup schedules.
• Partner with property managers to ensure financials are accurate and delivered timely.
• Ensure that all expenses, receipts, distributions, funding requests, and other accounting transactions for the period are accurately completed.
• Review and audit financial information to ensure compliance with established procedures and accounting principles.
• Respond to and resolve issues and requests from management teams and clients.
• Follow standard policies and procedures to ensure internal and external reporting requirements are consistently met.
• Participate in budget and forecasting functions for the assigned property portfolio.
• Serve as the primary accounting point of contact to clients and property managers for the assigned portfolio.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 1–3 years of previous accounting experience.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment through collaboration and partnership.
• Customer service-oriented mindset.
• Ability to analyze and problem solve effectively.
• Detail oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with computerized accounting systems, specifically Yardi and/or MRI.
