Overview
This role owns the month-end and period-end close, reporting, and controls infrastructure for a fast-growing technology organization. Responsibilities include ensuring US GAAP-compliant financials, clean audits, and SOX-ready internal controls.
The position sits at the intersection of finance and compliance, driving monthly and quarterly close cycles, managing technical accounting topics (including ASC 606 revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and capitalized software), and partnering with FP&A and external auditors to keep reporting accurate and audit-ready.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process—set and manage timelines, review account reconciliations, and deliver GAAP-compliant financial statements on schedule
- Manage and develop a small team of accountants, delegating reconciliations, flux analysis, and journal entries while building bench strength
- Maintain and strengthen SOX 404 internal controls by documenting key control activities, coordinating control testing, and remediating deficiencies with process owners
- Research and document technical accounting matters (including ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 leases, and ASC 350 intangibles) and prepare position memos for review
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits, managing PBC requests and resolving open items
- Improve close and reporting automation in NetSuite and Excel/Power BI to reduce manual work and tighten reconciliation accuracy
- Support SEC-reporting readiness and equity/stock-based compensation accounting in partnership with Legal and People teams
Requirements
- 5–8 years of combined public accounting and industry experience, including Big 4 or national firm audit background
- Active CPA license required
- Deep US GAAP knowledge with hands-on experience applying ASC 606 and supporting SOX 404 control environments
- Experience leading a month-end close in a SaaS or technology environment; NetSuite or similar ERP fluency
- Strong technical memo writing and audit-management skills; comfortable owning external audit relationships directly
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s in Accounting a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- SEC reporting exposure (10-K/10-Q drafting)
- Experience with equity administration tools (Carta, Shareworks)
- Cross-border entity accounting experience
