Accounting Manager - Client Lead

Overview

This role is an experienced, process-driven Accounting Manager/Client Lead responsible for guiding the financial strategy for a portfolio of high-growth startup clients. The position is hands-on and combines deep technical accounting expertise with high-touch client leadership.

Responsibilities

• Client Management and Leadership: Serve as the primary, high-touch point of contact, owning the client relationship and providing strategic advice on high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and financial activities.
• Team Development: Manage, coach, and mentor a team of Staff and Senior Accountants, including detailed review of their work to ensure accuracy and quality in financial reporting.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee all accounting functions, including the end-to-end monthly close process and preparation of financial statements; ensure smooth execution of day-to-day transactional work.
• Strategic Project Management: Coordinate and lead critical ad hoc projects, including external audits, due diligence support, and complex technical accounting research.
• Financial Insight: Produce accurate, timely, actionable financial reporting, including analysis of key financial metrics, trends, and variances to support decision-making.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal Finance and Tax teams to ensure each client’s needs are met with high-quality customer service.

Requirements

• Experience: Approximately 8+ years of relevant client-facing accounting experience (public accounting or corporate accounting), including at least 2 years managing a team.
• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting required.
• Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex accounting concepts to clients, executives, and non-financial stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA or MBA (highly preferred, not mandatory)
• Web3 (Crypto) accounting and/or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) accounting experience
• System proficiency: Significant experience with core GL platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct, plus exposure to modern, tech-forward systems (examples include Bill, Ramp, Stripe, Gusto, Rippling, Cin7, Brex)
