Overview
This role manages the financial reporting process, including the preparation of monthly reports and financial statements. It ensures accurate, timely reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and provides insight to support decision-making.
Responsibilities include overseeing reporting related to the organization’s international entities by reviewing international subsidiaries’ monthly financial statements for accuracy in accordance with United States GAAP (US GAAP). The position also serves as the primary point of contact for the audit of the annual financial statements, including certain footnote disclosures.
Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation of monthly financial statements used for bank reporting and management reporting.
- Review and support audited annual financial statements preparation.
- Lead the preparation of monthly financial variance analysis reports.
- Research technical accounting issues and draft related whitepapers to ensure proper accounting treatment and/or implementation of guidance.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors.
- Coordinate with accounting personnel at international locations and provide monthly documentation needed for a timely and accurate close.
- Provide accounting support to help ensure consistent policy and procedure implementation at international entities.
- Compile and analyze financial information to support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing and reporting activities.
- Take a leading role in implementing internal controls and process improvements.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and ensure reporting is accurate and free of material misstatement.
Requirements
- Previous experience with financial reporting, including preparation of footnote disclosures required (or experience working in these areas as an auditor).
- Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Strong attention to detail to prevent errors or discrepancies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including identifying root causes and proposing solutions.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to executive stakeholders, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet team goals.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities while working remotely.
- High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive financial information.
- Proficiency using accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial management tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced skills such as Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Demonstrated ability to learn accounting and reporting applications quickly.
Education / Certification / License
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in accounting
- Certification (or working toward) such as CPA, CA, or CMA
Required Work Experience
- 5-7 years of progressive experience, with the most recent role at the manager level or equivalent, or strong experienced senior with leadership experience ready to take the next step.
