Overview
An Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and regulations. This role contributes to the accuracy and integrity of financial data used for reporting and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Prepare invoices, payment requests, and expense reports
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on overdue accounts
- Support payroll processing and related recordkeeping
- Assist in preparing financial reports and statements
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
- Assist with audits by providing required documentation and information
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance support roles
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
