Overview

This role involves managing the Accounts Receivable (AR) function for a company focused on manufacturing customizable vehicles in the USA. The Accounts Receivable Manager will lead AR operations related to reservation deposits, vehicle sales, and merchandise, reporting to the Head of Treasury. The position requires ownership of daily cash application, customer balance integrity, AR month-end close, reconciliations, and AR-related controls. The role also includes collaboration with Treasury, Accounting, and Digital teams on order-to-cash and bank-to-book system architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily cash application for reservation deposits, vehicle payments, and merchandise sales, ensuring accurate customer and order allocation.
  • Handle refunds, chargebacks, cancellations, and deposit conversions as customers move from reservation to delivery.
  • Lead AR month-end close activities, including customer deposit liability, AR aging, processor and lender receivables, and payment processor reconciliations.
  • Perform daily and monthly AR reconciliations across payment processors, auto financing partners, and bank accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Prepare AR-related disclosure inputs in line with company cash policies and customer deposit procedures.
  • Build and lead the AR team as transaction volumes increase, including hiring and developing analysts.
  • Establish AR policies, procedures, and key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), unapplied cash aging, and exception rates; report performance to Accounting and Treasury leadership.
  • Manage vendor relationships related to AR, including payment processors, financing partners, and SaaS providers, focusing on configuration, support, and roadmap.
  • Design and document AR controls to ensure SOX readiness ahead of IPO, including segregation of duties, reviewer sign-offs, and evidence retention.
  • Maintain up-to-date process narratives and risk and control matrices as systems and volumes evolve.
  • Represent AR in order-to-cash and bank-to-book system design initiatives, providing input on integration with order capture tools, OMS, payment processors, financing partners, ERP (NetSuite), treasury management systems, and close platforms.
  • Define AR requirements and acceptance criteria for system changes affecting customer payments, balances, or AR sub-ledgers; lead AR-side user acceptance testing.
  • Identify and communicate potential AR impacts from upstream changes such as new payment methods, sales channels, or pricing adjustments.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in accounts receivable or accounting operations, including at least 3 years in a managerial or lead role.
  • Strong knowledge of AR fundamentals: cash application, customer deposit accounting, AR close, reconciliations, aging analysis, and DSO management.
  • Experience with NetSuite AR or comparable ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with order management systems, payment processors (e.g., Adyen, Stripe), and close platforms (e.g., FloQast, BlackLine).
  • Ability to engage cross-functional teams (Treasury, Accounting, Digital) on AR system architecture and integration.
  • Experience writing functional requirements, leading user acceptance testing, and collaborating with IT or vendors during system implementations.
  • Understanding of SOX requirements for AR-related systems and processes, preferably in a pre-IPO or recently public company environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with SQL or query-based reporting tools is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment where AR processes are being developed.

Location

  • Remote eligible.
  • Travel as needed for key meetings, typically not more than twice per year.
