Overview
This role supports the adoption and delivery of advanced advice and planning strategies through close partnership with financial advisors and distribution channel stakeholders. The position involves providing specialized estate planning and/or tax planning case consultation, integrating advice tools and methodologies into the planning process, and serving as a primary point of contact for advice support.
This can be a remote position within the US.
Responsibilities
- Consult with financial advisors on planning strategies, including financial planning, retirement, estate, charitable, and business planning concepts; provide support for individual cases.
- Influence how products fit within the advice framework and support advisors in applying advice practices effectively.
- Support adoption of advice tools and methodology by advising on integration of the advice tools stack into the planning process.
- Tools may include Money Guide Pro, What if Tax, Morningstar, Solution Studio, and other systems and calculators.
- Provide subject matter expertise to help advance planning strategies in the field, including developing point of view and serving as a subject matter expert through educational platforms.
- Identify gaps in advice and planning acumen and address them through inbound and outbound consults with advisors.
- Use technology to provide consultation to representatives, field leaders, and wholesalers on the advice process, including:
- Helping design solutions for individual case needs.
- Answering questions on complex financial matters, including college planning, estate planning, business planning, and retirement planning.
- Help financial advisors identify strategies and concepts that meet existing client needs, as well as support prospecting and overcoming objections.
- Provide topic support to improve advisor confidence and effectiveness for areas such as estate planning, business valuation, special needs planning, stock option planning, and related objections.
- Provide subject matter expertise for internal and external-facing collateral, including magazine content, marketing materials, articles, whitepapers, and podcasts.
- Partner with advisor groups and distribution-related leadership to embed advice practices into practices and maintain feedback loops from field advisors to advice technology stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, or similar field
- 10+ years of Financial Services experience, with demonstrated ability to work across different advisor groups and regional leaders
- 5+ years of operational experience in a matrixed, cross-functional environment requiring analysis of industry and/or business data
- Excellent verbal communication skills, customer service and sales skills, and strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail, including aptitude for numbers, graphs, histograms, and knowledge of financial concepts, economics, and the business world
- Strong understanding of and demonstrated ability to promote financial software applications that support the advice process, with strong analytical skills
- Strong leadership skills and ability to influence and collaborate through empathy; able to work across corporate and field environments to drive results
- Deep subject matter expertise in financial planning and the advisory working model
- Proven ability to communicate up and down the chain of command across diverse stakeholder groups
- Passion for the value of providing advice to clients, with in-depth knowledge of insurance products, asset/wealth management, fee-based planning, mutual funds, and securities
- Entrepreneurial ability to cut through ambiguity and execute
- Ability to synthesize and balance multiple (sometimes conflicting) stakeholder viewpoints into a common position
- FINRA Series 7, 63/65 or 66 required or obtained within 90 days (about 3 months) of hire
Preferred
- Alignment with leadership competencies (courage, collaboration, and commitment) demonstrated through resiliency and decision-making with a high standard of excellence
- JD/CPA/CFP/master’s degree in a business discipline
- Financial services advanced designations (e.g., FIC, CLU, RICP, ChFC, CAP)

- Applicable salary range for this full-time role: $104,063.00 - $140,793.00 per year (varies by geographic region).
- Base pay offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors.
