Overview
This role involves owning the full invoice-to-pay function within a growing finance team. The position requires building and managing the entire accounts payable (AP) cycle, including invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payments. There is an emphasis on automating processes using AI-driven tools to achieve a touchless workflow. The role also includes responsibilities for month-end AP close, AP analytics, audit readiness, ERP migration, and managing vendor compliance and tax-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Build and manage the full invoice-to-pay cycle: invoice intake, coding, approvals, and payment processing
- Automate AP processes using AI for ingestion, coding, and duplicate detection
- Lead month-end AP close activities, including accruals, cutoff, subledger-to-GL reconciliation, and aging analysis
- Develop and implement AP analytics to improve function efficiency
- Prepare AP function for external audit readiness
- Lead AP setup and migration during ERP system transition
- Manage the company’s Ramp card program, vendor and tax compliance (W-9/W-8, 1099s), and AP sales/use tax processes
Requirements
- Proactive ownership of the AP function without needing detailed direction
- Experience working in an AI-native environment, having built AP workflows adopted by others
- Ability to create reusable tools such as scripts, rule sets, or checklists to streamline repetitive tasks
- Strong attention to detail in reviewing others’ work, identifying errors without redoing or rubber-stamping
- Understanding of controls and audit evidence, including three-way matching, exception handling, and documentation
- Ability to evaluate ERP systems objectively based on their merits
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience owning AP close and controls in an audited environment or equivalent
- Experience setting up or migrating AP processes in a modern ERP system
- Experience building AI-assisted finance workflows adopted by teams
- Approximately 5–8 years of experience in accounts payable or accounting operations, or equivalent
