Overview

A leading multinational aerospace and defense organization is seeking an Associate Director, Property Tax to manage all aspects of U.S. property tax compliance across multiple legal entities. This role involves developing strategy, overseeing tax return preparation and appeals, managing external consultants, and leading property tax planning and compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop vision and strategy for the property tax function
  • Review and approve complex property tax returns, including Freeport Exemptions, Tax Abatements, business personal property, and real estate valuations
  • Review complex business personal property and real estate tax assessments and oversee tax appeal positions
  • Review real estate tax appraisal reports and make recommendations on appeals
  • Conduct property tax planning and identify risks and opportunities in business transactions
  • Develop and manage personal property and real estate tax managers
  • Manage external consultants on property tax compliance and real estate valuations
  • Oversee professional fees budget
  • Manage and communicate property tax compliance requirements for S4 Hana implementation and other tax technology projects
  • Oversee property tax process standardization and documentation

Requirements

  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax with a minimum of 12 years relevant experience in business personal property tax compliance, audit, and commercial real estate valuation; or an advanced degree with a minimum of 10 years experience
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and comprehensive understanding of property tax compliance
  • Experience leading and developing a team of tax professionals in a fast-paced environment
  • Certifications such as CMI, CPA, MAI, or similar are desired
  • Ability to travel as necessary (5-10%)
  • Experience with Property Tax Management Software (PTMS) is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Prior leadership experience managing a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and prioritize competing tasks efficiently
  • Proactive with excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is a plus

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $157,200 - $298,800 USD, dependent on experience and qualifications

  • Potential eligibility for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs based on performance and position level

Location & Work Arrangement

  • This is a remote position based in the United States, specifically US-CT-REMOTE
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to access restrictions to certain systems
  • Occasional travel may be required (5-10%)
