Overview
The organization is seeking an experienced AWS FinOps Analyst to lead cloud financial management and optimization initiatives across a large-scale AWS environment. This role will partner with Cloud Engineering, Platform Operations, Finance, and Executive stakeholders to improve cloud cost visibility, governance, and efficiency while supporting business growth.
Responsibilities
- Analyze enterprise AWS spending and identify opportunities to optimize cloud costs across compute, storage, databases, networking, containers, and serverless services.
- Lead AWS FinOps initiatives focused on cost transparency, accountability, forecasting, and governance.
- Conduct AWS Well-Architected Framework reviews, with an emphasis on the Cost Optimization Pillar.
- Develop business cases, ROI analyses, and executive-level recommendations for cloud optimization opportunities.
- Improve utilization and coverage of Reserved Instances (RIs) and Savings Plans.
- Create and maintain cloud financial dashboards, KPIs, and reporting for technology and business stakeholders.
- Design and support chargeback and showback models to improve cost ownership across application teams.
- Partner with Cloud Business Office, Platform Engineering, Finance, and Application teams to drive operational and financial accountability.
- Evaluate cloud consumption trends and provide forecasting, budgeting, and optimization guidance.
- Establish FinOps best practices and governance frameworks across multiple cloud value streams.
- Support Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives and cloud modernization efforts using Terraform and AWS native services.
Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) and/or FOCUS Certified.
- 5+ years of experience in AWS cloud financial management, FinOps, or cloud cost optimization.
- Strong experience with AWS cost management services including:
- AWS Cost Explorer
- Cost and Usage Reports (CUR)
- AWS Budgets
- AWS Cost Management tools
- Experience implementing cloud governance frameworks and financial accountability models.
- Strong understanding of:
- Cost allocation methodologies
- Chargeback and showback models
- Cloud financial management
- Unit economics and cloud cost analysis
- Experience working directly with executive stakeholders, business leaders, and cloud engineering teams.
- Hands-on AWS expertise across core platform services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CloudHealth, Cloudability, Apptio, or similar cloud cost management platforms.
- Expertise optimizing:
- EC2
- EKS
- ECS
- RDS
- Lambda
- S3
- EBS
- EFS
- Experience with resource rightsizing, utilization analysis, and cloud capacity planning.
- Strong Terraform experience.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
- Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple business units and technology organizations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into business outcomes.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $130,000.00 USD Annually - $150,000.00 USD Annually
