Overview
This part-time, remote-eligible position provides bookkeeping and contribution data entry support to the Chicago USA Mission Center and several of its congregations using Shelby Systems accounting software.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process contributions
- Receive, record, and deposit funds
- Provide financial reports to the Mission Center Financial Officer and Fund Board Chair
- Perform duties in alignment with approved internal controls
- Support financial inspections
- Maintain proficiency with Shelby Systems
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience
- Thorough understanding of financial accounting principles
- Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office and ability to learn new programs (including Shelby Systems)
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficiency in email management and organization
- Ability to manage multiple people, projects, and priorities
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with both internal and external audiences
- Careful attention to detail
- Ability to work independently from home
- Ability to maintain regular, reliable work hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Shelby Systems
- Quick learner
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience
Additional Information
- Employment status: Less than 20 hours per week
- Immediate supervisor: Mission Center Financial Officer
- Supervisory responsibility: None
- Overtime status: Non-exempt
- Required trainings: New employees must complete registered youth worker status and anti-harassment training within 30 days of hire, with annual anti-harassment training thereafter
