Overview

This is a fully remote, full-time role. You may work from home or from your location of record within the U.S., with no in-office requirements. You must be available five days per week during designated work hours. The work arrangement for this role is subject to change based on business needs and individual performance, which may include adjustments to on-site requirements or schedule expectations.

The Client Funds Accounting Specialist is responsible for reconciling all client held funds accounts. Duties include monitoring and reconciling multiple bank accounts and resolving discrepancies or issues.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bank reconciliation for payroll/tax/benefit accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial transactions.
  • Review and validate financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and other bank-related activities.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and cash balance accounts and outstanding items.
  • Monitor daily/weekly cash balances by client and across the total client base to ensure remittances are made timely and cash collections are properly recorded and cleared.
  • Make adjustments to cash as indicated by reports.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to coordinate system fixes as needed.
  • Work with the bank on returned items and inquiries.
  • Report payroll, tax, and benefit exceptions to partners for review and resolution.
  • Reconcile incoming Wires/ACHs for payroll/tax accounts.
  • Review and reconcile Client Credits.
  • Provide proof of payments to the Tax Department.
  • Assist with monthly financial reconciliations.
  • Monitor incoming CFA team email accounts and ensure timely responses.
  • Provide suggestions and write procedures to enhance overall process.
  • Work toward continued process improvement.
  • Assist with new business initiatives.

Requirements

  • HS diploma required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in payroll service or banking operations strongly desired.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong team and individual work ethic preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency in MS applications, including Excel and Access.
  • High level of integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with MasterTax, WEX, and/or CobraPoint.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods (typically 7-8 hours a day).
  • Ability to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type, including using multiple software programs and handling multiple inquiries simultaneously.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay range: $38,300 - $50,000/yr.
  • Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
