Overview
This role involves managing clinical financial and accounting processes, including processing invoices and payments to investigators and vendors, reconciling payments with sites, vendors, and corporate Finance, generating reports for corporate Finance and Development departments, and ensuring that current insurance information and documentation are properly communicated to the insurance broker.
Responsibilities
- Process approvals and payments for invoices submitted by sites and vendors, ensuring payments comply with contractual agreements.
- Follow appropriate coding processes to maintain efficiency and consistency.
- Identify and reconcile out-of-balance accounting records with sites, vendors, and the finance department.
- Communicate directly with sites and vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Conduct quality control process reviews and implement remediation as needed.
- Maintain the clinical financial database.
- Ensure documentation supports an audit trail within the accounting system.
- Support the clinical relationship with Finance.
- Interface with Accounting during the close and reconciliation process.
- Serve as the Clinical Finance representative for study teams.
- Provide data to support clinical trial forecasting and budgeting.
- Ensure current insurance information and documentation are conveyed appropriately to the insurance broker.
- Anticipate clinical trial budget revisions due to out-of-scope services, enrollment delays, and other factors.
- Process financial termination and closure of study sites.
- Prepare and process the monthly clinical dashboard.
- Provide actual cost budget analysis.
- Manage special projects as required.
- Adhere to applicable quality documents such as SOPs and Training Guides.
Qualifications
- Four or more years of financial experience including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable or related fields, preferably in biotech, finance, or legal environments.
- Experience with payment systems and processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related financial discipline.
- Experience with financial analysis.
- Experience in biotech or finance environments.
- Knowledge of CFR and GCP ICH requirements, as well as the European Clinical Trial Directive.
