Overview

This is a full-time, national remote position based in the U.S., offering the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the country. The role involves working Monday through Friday with 8-hour shifts scheduled between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs. Training hours will be during normal business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Contact insurance providers to identify reasons for payment delinquency, claim errors, and delays
  • Negotiate and advise on collection of overdue or incorrect claims and take appropriate action to recover payments
  • Handle unresolved billing or collection inquiries and issues
  • Adhere to accounts receivable and collection practices, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with outside legal counsel or agencies for complex collection cases when necessary
  • Perform basic tasks independently without review
  • Understand hospital or patient accounting department functions, operations, and procedures
  • Apply medical terminology, procedure, and diagnosis coding knowledge to assess patient account accuracy
  • Understand covered insurance benefits, billing requirements, and procedures for third-party payers and government programs
  • Utilize knowledge of UB04/1550 claim forms for Medicare, Medicaid, Medi-Cal, and other government payer programs
  • Operate online computerized patient accounting and electronic billing systems
  • Apply understanding of HCPCS/CPT and ICD10 coding, Medicare guidelines, and rules
  • Maintain knowledge of payer contracts, insurance policies, and benefit coverage

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in hospital or facility collections
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in commercial claim and Medicare collections
  • Experience working with insurance companies to verify denied claims and ensure timely payment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word (memo creation), Excel (report management), and Outlook (calendar and email)
  • Ability to work full-time Monday through Friday with flexibility to work any 8-hour shift between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM; occasional overtime may be required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EPIC and/or Direct Data Entry (DDE)
  • Experience in a healthcare revenue cycle role

  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure
  • Dedicated work area separated from living spaces to ensure information privacy
  • Residence must have access to a high-speed internet connection approved by the employer or an existing high-speed internet service
  • Compliance with the organization's Telecommuter Policy

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly pay ranges from $17.98 to $32.12 based on factors such as local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications
