Contract Controller

Overview

Contract opportunity for a Contract Controller in Akron, OH (Remote or Hybrid). This is a 120-day contract role (no conversion to permanent employment). The contract may be extended at the end of the assignment.

• Client Location: Akron, OH (hybrid or remote)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday (full-time)
• Pay Rate: $55–$60/hour

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting and finance operations
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections
• Manage general accounting activities and general ledger processes
• Own financial reporting and month-end close activities
• Partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership team
• Lead accounting teams while staying hands-on with day-to-day operations

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting best practices
• Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, general ledger, and month-end close processes
• Strong ERP/accounting system experience
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability to partner effectively with CFOs, executive leadership, and operational stakeholders
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and quickly make an impact in a contract assignment

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar accounting leadership role
• Experience in construction, general contracting, manufacturing, or other project-based environments
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA designation (plus)

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Rate: $55–$60/hour
• 120-day contract term (no conversion to permanent employment; extension possible)
