This is the first FP&A hire, responsible for designing and managing planning, forecasting, and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

Corporate Model & Forecasting

  • Own and maintain the consolidated corporate financial model as the single source of truth for revenue, headcount, and expenses
  • Develop and maintain long-range plans (LRPs) and annual operating plans (AOPs) using both top-down strategic frameworks and detailed bottom-up drivers
  • Ensure GAAP-compliant treatment of all model assumptions; collaborate with Accounting to reconcile actuals and maintain integrity between ERP outputs and financial models

Reporting & Financial Accuracy

  • Deliver monthly variance analysis with clear root-cause explanations, detailing not only what changed but why and its business implications

  • Collaborate with Accounting, Strategic Finance, and Operations leaders to identify and resolve discrepancies between financial systems, ensuring clean data flows

Process Mapping & Systems

  • Build scalable operational frameworks and document processes clarifying how financial information flows through the organization
  • Own end-to-end documentation of all finance-related workflows, capturing each step, data transfer, system touchpoint, dependency, handoff, and control point with high granularity
  • Use SQL to independently extract, interrogate, and validate financial and operational datasets from source systems
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting on deep-dive investigations, root-cause analyses, and redesign efforts for complex or high-impact workflows

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in FP&A, financial consolidations, strategic finance, or management consulting
  • Deep understanding of GAAP accounting principles and their application to model assumptions, variance analysis, and financial reporting
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and financial planning systems such as NetSuite, Workday, Adaptive, Anaplan, or Pigment
  • Ability to use or learn data-pulling tools like Metabase, Hex, or Snowflake
  • Proven ability to manage both top-down LRP/AOP processes and detailed bottom-up monthly forecasting cycles
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a track record of catching errors and building processes to prevent recurrence
  • Strong written communication skills capable of translating complex financial data into clear, focused executive narratives

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience at a high-growth marketplace, SaaS, or two-sided platform business
  • Experience building or improving financial consolidation processes in a scaling organization
  • Exposure to investor reporting or board-level financial presentations
  • Proficiency in SQL to independently pull, validate, and analyze financial and operational data without reliance on a data team
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, financial consolidations, strategic finance, or management consulting

Success Metrics

  • Within 90 days: Audit and fully document existing finance workflows, identify gaps in the corporate model, and deliver a trusted monthly variance analysis
  • Within 6 months: Maintain a reliable, well-documented, and stress-tested corporate model; ensure quarterly forecasting cycles run on time with fewer surprises; clarify ownership and improve financial data flow
  • Long-term: Build scalable financial operating infrastructure with comprehensive understanding of all finance workflows, enabling precise financial attribution and stronger controls
