Overview
This Credit Analyst III role focuses on equipment finance credit analysis and portfolio management support for commercial lending activities. Responsibilities include spreading financial statements, underwriting, and preparing credit memos—especially for new money requests for new and existing borrowers. The role will also support Portfolio Management through annual reviews, renewals, change memos, and modifications. Credits assigned may involve higher aggregate exposure and/or complex credit structures.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Prepare timely, high-quality credit analysis and recommendations that accurately evaluate the strengths and weaknesses associated with credit actions.
- Participate in the Opportunity Memo process: assess credit strengths and weaknesses, finalize Opportunity Memos for presentation, and take part in OM calls.
- Analyze financial statements and related data, industry risk, loan structure, and market conditions to assess borrowers’ overall creditworthiness and repayment ability.
- Use financial spreading software and other financial analysis tools to evaluate borrower cash flow and determine adequacy of primary and secondary repayment sources.
- Perform underwriting activities, identify credit risks, analyze repayment capacity, and prepare collateral coverage.
- Present underwriting findings and narrative analysis within credit memos or modifications to support requests for new money, renewals, annual reviews, and modifications.
- Work within the credit approval team’s guidance to recommend appropriate credit structuring, documentation, and risk controls.
- Help determine the appropriate level of underwriting and due diligence for the credit’s risk.
- Complete underwriting tasks within expected service level and turnaround times.
- Participate in business calls with commercial lending and credit administration teams.
- Maintain working knowledge of macroeconomic issues in local markets and regional industries.
- Maintain data integrity within the underwriting platform to ensure accurate record of credit relationships.
- Handle compliance and audit-related matters within the scope of responsibility.
- Stay current on banking rules and regulations related to Credit Administration, Commercial Lending, and Appraisals.
- Identify policy exceptions for credit requests consistent with the organization’s Commercial Credit Policy.
- Monitor, develop, and recommend revisions to workflows and procedures to enhance efficiency and minimize expenses.
- Identify potential for credit losses and mitigate risk appropriately.
- Utilize risk rating models to accurately determine risk ratings for credit requests.
- Prioritize assignments with guidance from Commercial Credit Managers.
- Evaluate the financial condition of guarantors using analysis of personal financial statements and personal tax returns.
- Perform loan covenant testing calculations and update covenant compliance records.
- Complete assigned education to develop expertise in loan underwriting, loan structuring, and professional development.
- Develop business writing and professional communication skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, management, finance, or related discipline.
- 6–8 years relevant commercial lending or credit administration experience, specifically related to Equipment Finance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred knowledge in high-net worth and corporate aircraft transactions.
- Understanding of secured loan documentation and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex credits accurately and efficiently.
- Knowledge of lending to a wide variety of industries.
- Ability to analyze detailed financial data and strong computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision and use independent judgment and decision-making.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with prospects, Senior Account Executives, agent banks, credit administration, and other bank personnel.
