Overview
A growing technology company is seeking a Finance Data Scientist to join their Finance Data Science team during a pivotal phase of the organization's evolution. This role focuses on building and maintaining the data foundation that supports financial reporting, forecasting, strategic decision-making, and investor communications. The position involves close collaboration with Strategic Finance, Accounting, Investor Relations, Engineering, Product, and Data teams to ensure financial metrics are accurate, actionable, and trusted.
This full-time role can be based in one of the US hubs or remotely within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Own and enhance data models powering financial reporting, including ARR, revenue, billings, collections, and other key business metrics
- Develop scalable reporting systems, forecasts, and analytical frameworks supporting Finance, Accounting, Investor Relations, and executive leadership
- Ensure data accuracy and completeness during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes in partnership with Strategic Finance and Accounting teams
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, GTM Systems, and Financial Systems teams to maintain completeness and accuracy of financial data
- Conduct deep-dive analyses to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities to improve business performance
- Define, measure, and operationalize key financial and operational metrics
- Design and implement durable data solutions balancing immediate stakeholder needs with long-term scalability
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to Finance leaders, guiding reporting, forecasting, and decision-making across the business
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, Finance, Financial Systems, Data Engineering, or related fields
- Advanced SQL skills and strong proficiency in Python or a similar programming language
- Experience supporting Finance, Accounting, Strategic Finance, FP&A, Investor Relations, or other finance-focused stakeholders
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable business insights for non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated capability to work independently and drive projects from ambiguity to execution
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SaaS, subscription-based, usage-based, or consumption-based business models
- Knowledge of accounting concepts and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606)
- Familiarity with modern analytics and data engineering tools such as DBT, Snowflake, Git, Spark, Presto, or similar technologies
- Experience supporting IPO readiness, public company reporting, SOX controls, audits, or other major corporate milestones
- Background in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Accounting, Investment Banking, Consulting, or related fields
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary range: $140,000—$348,000 USD (salary varies based on qualifications, experience, and work location; remote pay is localized between 80% and 100% of range)
