Overview
This role involves serving as a US banking expert to help map how critical credit decisions are actually made inside US banks. You will identify where policy and real-world practice diverge, then encode those findings into decision rules that an AI agent can execute and that a credit committee or examiner can defend.
Responsibilities
- Map end-to-end loan origination flows for consumer, small business, and commercial lending, including:
- intake
- KYC/BSA/AML
- income and collateral verification
- credit analysis
- underwriting
- approval and exceptions
- Map additional critical bank processes as customer needs arise, based on hands-on understanding of how they operate in practice.
- Analyze credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Surface conflicts, gaps, and ambiguous thresholds.
- Define and validate decision rules with bank process owners, including:
- eligibility
- DTI/DSCR/LTV limits
- covenants
- pricing and escalation criteria
- Build realistic test cases and golden-label datasets (approve / decline / refer) with documented supporting evidence.
- Review agent decisions against real banking practice and flag where the rulebook or the agent is wrong.
- Advise product and engineering on what US banking teams need, and what breaks in production.
Requirements
- 10+ years in banking at a US bank, credit union, or lender, with deep expertise in credit, underwriting, loan operations, or credit risk (commercial lending experience is valuable).
- Working knowledge of US banking regulation and supervision, including:
- ECOA/Reg B
- fair lending
- HMDA
- TILA/RESPA
- BSA/AML
- OCC/FDIC/Fed model risk and credit risk guidance
- CECL
- Experience documenting or redesigning bank processes (SOPs, BPMN, audit, or model-governance work).
- Ability to convert “it depends” into explicit conditions, thresholds, and exceptions.
- Availability for regular overlap with a Tel Aviv team.
- Clear written and verbal communication with bank leaders, executives, and engineers.
Location
- Remote (US), with regular overlap with the Tel Aviv team (US Eastern morning hours).
