Overview

This is a remote position available to candidates residing in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or Utah. The role focuses on managing escheatment accounting functions within the Payables team, ensuring proper control and safeguarding of corporate funds related to disbursements.

Responsibilities

  • Research and interpret state-specific rules and regulations regarding abandoned property, due process, documentation, and filings; recommend process improvements as needed.
  • Analyze outstanding check data for accuracy and make corrections to ensure proper reissuance or escheatment of payments.
  • Manage issuance of due diligence letters, respond to inquiries, and reissue checks according to state regulations.
  • Send monthly stale dated letters to payees, handle related calls, and reissue checks as appropriate.
  • Maintain check control logs and claims balancing information following departmental protocols.
  • Research outstanding payment issues, place stop payment orders, and generate replacement payments as necessary.
  • Review payment requests for completeness, accuracy, and proper approvals, applying payable best practices.
  • Prepare state filings with all required documentation and voucher check requests to meet filing deadlines, including escheatment trending for management review.
  • Utilize workflow and imaging systems to research outstanding issues, void or reissue payments, and update systems for organizational transparency.
  • Create and maintain records of voided checks and check tracers for audit and informational purposes.
  • Adhere to MAR and SOC1 controls; perform quality assurance reviews and audits as directed.
  • Meet or exceed performance metrics related to quantity and quality of output.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus 2 years of general accounting, accounts payable, or disbursement accounting experience, and completion of introductory college-level accounting courses, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with personal computer software applications for accounting functions, including intermediate to advanced Excel, Word, email, calendaring software, and payables ERP systems such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, or Workday.
  • Basic mathematical skills for simple calculations.
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and operating expense/cost allocation coding.
  • Ability to process detailed data accurately and operate 10-Key by touch.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential matters.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines with minimal supervision, and multitask effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with all organizational levels and external parties.
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
  • Experience with AI tools and technologies to enhance productivity and decision-making is highly desired.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Expected hourly hiring range: $20.49 to $30.82
  • Full hourly range: $19.40 to $34.90
  • Bonus target: 5%

Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in an office environment.
