Overview

This role owns the accounting function and monthly close for an international organization with legal entities in Denmark, the UK, and the US. The accounting setup is already in place, and your responsibility is to take full ownership of the close, the numbers, and the processes behind them.

You will work closely with an external accounting partner handling day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll, and VAT for the Danish parent company, as well as a part-time Finance Associate supporting daily tasks. Over time, you will help bring more work in-house where it makes sense and improve controls and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Run the group close (monthly, quarterly, and year-end) and ensure the numbers are locked on time, reviewing external bookkeeping work along the way.
  • Own AR and AP end to end, including invoicing, collections, bank reconciliation, and supplier payments.
  • Ensure revenue matches across CRM, billing, and accounting.
  • Own VAT reporting across markets, working with external advisers.
  • Manage payroll across Denmark, the UK, and the US, including Employer of Record setups.
  • Keep hardware margins on budget and sales aligned with Incoterms and VAT, working with the Head of Hardware.
  • Prepare financial statements and support budgeting and variance analysis.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for auditors.
  • Continuously improve controls and processes to reduce manual work.
  • Support a planned group-wide shift to a new accounting/ERP system, including process and automation improvements.

Requirements

  • 4+ years in accounting or finance operations in a growing international company, or in an audit/accounting firm.
  • Solid knowledge of Danish accounting rules (parent company operates under Danish law).
  • Hands-on experience owning a month-end close, ideally with an external accounting partner.
  • Solid AR, AP, and European VAT experience.
  • Experience with e-conomic, Xero, or QuickBooks, with the confidence to learn the others quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail with reconciliations, including the ability to identify root causes.
  • Sound judgement to push back when needed, with pragmatism to find workable solutions.
  • Clear written English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience from an international scale-up.
  • Payroll experience, ideally across countries.
  • UK or US accounting experience (or willingness to pick it up on the job).
  • ERP implementation or migration experience.
  • Experience with hardware or Incoterms.
  • Danish language skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary and real support for development.
  • Real ownership with direct line to the VP of Finance.
  • Broad role across three countries covering software, hardware, payments, and payroll.
  • Remote-first working.
  • Two off-sites or workcations per year.

Location

  • Full-time, permanent role.
  • Ideally based in Copenhagen, where the VP of Finance and the rest of the finance team sit.
  • Covers entities in Denmark, the UK, and the US.
