Finance Lead

Overview

A leading blockchain security auditing firm is seeking a Finance Lead to manage finance, accounting, tax, payroll, and treasury operations. This role involves both strategic financial planning and hands-on execution to support a fast-moving company operating in traditional finance and digital assets.

Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis

• Monitor cash balances across on-chain and off-chain accounts
• Develop and maintain financial models and profit forecasts
• Analyze key business metrics to support decision making
• Assist in pricing strategy and implementation for products

Accounting and Financial Reporting

• Collaborate with bookkeepers to prepare monthly financial statements
• Manage monthly close process with external accounting providers
• Review and reconcile financial statements against internal records
• Investigate discrepancies and support transition from cash to accrual accounting

Tax and Compliance

• Coordinate state and federal tax filings with external accountants
• Manage tax payments, including estimated payments throughout the year
• Support tax matters across multiple jurisdictions, including international entities
• Ensure ongoing tax compliance and accuracy of financial records

Treasury and Payments

• Execute payments via payroll platforms and other channels
• Manage money movement including intercompany transfers between on-chain and off-chain accounts
• Track on-chain transactions related to accounts receivable, payable, controllership, and fund management

HR and Payroll

• Manage hiring logistics, including contract setup in HR and payroll platforms (e.g., Deel, Rippling)
• Run payroll across multiple platforms and payment methods, including fiat and on-chain stablecoins
• Oversee payroll tax compliance across various state tax authorities

Operations

• Onboard new team members by provisioning access to internal tools and workspaces
• Manage offboarding and access removal for departing employees
• Administer ownership vesting schedules for employees and investors
• Handle entity mail and other operational tasks as needed

Requirements

• Trustworthy and discreet with sensitive financial and operational information
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting through university coursework or prior experience
• Meaningful knowledge of crypto and blockchain technology
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams
• Adaptable to wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working at a startup, preferably in crypto or Web3
• Professional background in finance and/or accounting
• Familiarity with US and international multi-entity corporate structures
• Experience working with tax, accounting, and bookkeeping professionals
