Overview

Remote (United States) • Full Time

Salary: $66,000–$74,000 per year

This role involves financial analysis that combines spreadsheet work with careful review of assumptions, variances, and financial trends. You will help stakeholders understand both what changed and why it may matter.

Responsibilities

  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Perform variance analysis that goes beyond stating whether a number is higher or lower; where the information allows, identify operational or financial drivers and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
  • Use sound judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent: investigate the source, document limitations, and avoid presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Clear written communication and ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Dependable communication and self-management in a remote setting, including organizing work, responding to reasonable update requests, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
