Overview
This role is for a Financial Analyst supporting stakeholders with spreadsheet-based financial analysis, careful review of assumptions and variances, and interpretation of financial trends. Variance analysis will focus on explaining not just whether results are higher or lower, but also the operational or financial drivers behind the movement and whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or require further review.
Responsibilities
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Investigate sources of incomplete or inconsistent financial information, document limitations, and avoid presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
- Present alternative scenarios where forecasting uncertainty may otherwise create a false sense of precision.
- Summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders with clear written communication.
Requirements
- Clear written communication skills and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind financial changes.
- Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing analysis.
- Comfort working with visible assumptions rather than hidden assumptions within calculations.
