Overview

This Financial Analyst role supports reliable financial analysis for planning and informed decision-making. Responsibilities include maintaining financial reports, comparing actual performance to expectations, and communicating key performance drivers and related context.

You’ll often begin analysis by identifying differences between plan and actual results, determining which accounts or operating factors contributed to the movement, verifying underlying information, and presenting findings appropriately.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Go beyond basic variance statements by identifying operational or financial drivers behind changes (where information allows) and explaining whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Organized documentation habits and appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Ability to identify what changed, understand the assumptions behind results, and communicate implications without overstating what the information can prove.
