Overview

This role involves supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis by organizing financial information into clear views of actual performance, expected results, and the factors driving differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are essential.

A typical analysis may begin with identifying variances between plan and actual results. You will determine which accounts or operating factors contributed to the movement, verify underlying information, and communicate results with appropriate context.

Variance analysis should go beyond explaining whether numbers are higher or lower. Where possible, you will identify the operational or financial drivers behind the change and assess whether the difference appears temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods and explain meaningful variances.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Comfort learning reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
