Overview

This role supports recurring financial reporting and helps answer questions about revenue, expenses, budgets, forecasts, and operating performance. It is an entry-level position with meaningful analytical responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
  • Help improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Conduct variance analysis that goes beyond identifying whether results are higher or lower by:
    • identifying operational or financial drivers behind movement (when information allows), and
    • explaining whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
  • Organize inputs, check calculations, and summarize the most meaningful drivers.

Requirements

  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial changes.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Organized documentation habits and appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Ability to investigate the source of incomplete or inconsistent financial information, document limitations, and avoid presenting uncertain results as more precise than they are.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote, full-time role while maintaining steady follow-through and organized communication.
