Overview

This role involves supporting financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions within a leading homebuilding organization. The Financial Analyst will prepare quarterly forecast packages, collaborate with multiple departments to gather data, and assist in developing annual business plans. The position requires analyzing variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets, providing detailed reports, and monitoring key performance indicators related to loan origination and profitability. The role also includes leveraging business intelligence tools such as Power BI to create dashboards, analyze market trends, and support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation of quarterly forecast packages ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather data and develop comprehensive annual business plans, monthly, and quarterly forecasts.
  • Analyze variances between actual results, forecasts, and budgets, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on mortgage performance, integrating sales, closings, and buyer financing trends.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to loan origination, profitability, and operational efficiency.
  • Create and maintain financial dashboards using Power BI for real-time management insights.
  • Conduct market share and earnings analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive positioning.
  • Partner with HR and Operations teams to analyze capacity and perform operational modeling of the mortgage platform.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to develop and maintain analytical datasets and reporting tools.
  • Participate in corporate and branch budget processes, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports and analytics to support strategic decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Create user manuals, visual aids, and documentation to ensure effective use of reporting tools and processes.
  • Assist in process improvements and contribute to the development of standard procedures across the finance team.
  • Cross-train for other roles within the organization to support team flexibility and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in financial or management reporting, financial modeling, and account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including VBA programming.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Hyperion EPM, and JD Edwards.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the homebuilding or real estate industry is a plus but not mandatory.
