Overview
This Financial Analyst role focuses on producing dependable financial analysis that supports planning and informed decision-making. You will maintain reports, compare actuals with expectations, and help communicate key performance drivers.
The work may involve shifting across financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions within the same week. Core expectations are that calculations are checked, assumptions are clear, and conclusions are presented in a way that supports decisions.
Forecasting involves uncertainty, so assumptions should be visible rather than hidden within calculations. You should be comfortable presenting alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision—particularly when outcomes depend on variables that may change.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
- Communicate financial findings in concise business language, including risks, limitations, and areas requiring follow-up.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
Variance analysis should go beyond stating that a number is higher or lower. Where the information allows, identify operational or financial drivers behind movement and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
Requirements
- Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
- Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
- Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain drivers behind a financial change.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial analysis, financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Familiarity with variance analysis, financial reporting, data analysis, and financial statements.
- Background in scenario analysis.
