Overview

This role involves working as a Financial Analyst for the organization’s financial planning and analysis function in a remote setting across the United States.

  • Location: Remote - United States
  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Salary: $65,000-$73,000 per year

You will organize financial information into useful views of actual performance, expected results, and the factors driving differences between plans and outcomes. Accuracy and clear communication are essential throughout the work.

Responsibilities

  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Perform variance analysis that goes beyond stating that a number is higher or lower; when possible, identify the operational or financial drivers behind the movement and explain whether the difference appears temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
  • Ensure financial models and schedules remain understandable after the immediate task is complete by using clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas.

Requirements

  • Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
  • Strong judgment when financial information is incomplete or inconsistent: investigate the source, document the limitation, and avoid presenting an uncertain result as more precise than it is.
