Overview
A rapidly growing eCommerce organization is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst, Merchandising Analytics. This role serves as a strategic thought partner at the intersection of finance, data, and commercial decision-making. The position involves owning high-visibility analytical programs that influence pricing strategies, assortment investments, and category portfolio decisions. The successful candidate will work autonomously with senior leadership and cross-functional teams across Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, and FP&A.
Responsibilities
- Lead and own analytical programs impacting pricing, assortment investments, and category strategies
- Develop and maintain enterprise-grade analytical systems using SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, and Excel to enable self-service reporting
- Lead complex financial modeling initiatives including PVM analysis, margin scenario planning, and inventory economics
- Define and enforce merchandising finance frameworks such as pricing guardrails, margin policies, and ROI standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate insights into strategic recommendations for senior leadership
- Partner with Merchandising, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to optimize pricing, promotional investments, and assortment decisions
- Build and maintain frameworks for SKU launches, cannibalization analysis, and post-launch performance evaluation
- Evaluate marketing spend ROI and develop demand elasticity models to inform investment decisions
- Independently source and shape large datasets ensuring data quality and analytical accuracy
- Present findings and strategic insights clearly to VP and C-level stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making
Requirements
- Deep expertise in financial analysis, FP&A, or merchandising finance, preferably within retail or eCommerce sectors
- Proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, Power BI, and advanced Excel for building scalable reporting infrastructure
- Experience leading complex financial modeling initiatives including PVM analysis, margin scenario planning, and category profitability
- Strong understanding of pricing architecture, promotional investment, and assortment strategies
- Proven ability to partner with Merchandising and Category leadership as a trusted advisor
- Hands-on experience with SKU, brand, and assortment launches including margin modeling and performance analysis
- Expertise in marketing spend analytics, incrementality measurement, and ROI evaluation
- Ability to independently source and shape complex datasets for analytical purposes
- Experience in retail or omnichannel finance focusing on SKU economics, inventory turn, and operational rigor
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex data into clear strategic insights for executive stakeholders
