Overview
A well-established organization affiliated with a major university is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their Contracts and Finance department. This role supports financial stewardship by collecting, analyzing, monitoring, and forecasting financial data to aid strategic decision-making. The position reports to the Finance Manager and serves as a subject matter expert on contracts, procurement, invoicing, and cross-departmental financial projects.
Responsibilities
- Analyze financial information using statistical analysis, simulations, and predictive modeling to develop business solutions
- Develop, maintain, and monitor automated financial information systems and budgets
- Communicate financial updates and results to leadership and stakeholders
- Design and implement financial processes including training, timelines, reporting, and process improvements
- Prepare detailed financial reports, spreadsheets, and schedules
- Process general ledger entries in compliance with GAAP standards
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and complex account analyses
- Assist with procurement activities and invoicing as needed
- Act as a liaison between departments and serve as a finance subject matter expert on cross-functional projects
- Stay current on financial policies, procedures, and best practices relevant to higher education and government environments
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting
- Experience with data gathering, financial modeling, and forecasting
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and report development
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
