Overview

A well-established organization affiliated with a major university is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their Contracts and Finance department. This role supports financial stewardship by collecting, analyzing, monitoring, and forecasting financial data to aid strategic decision-making. The position reports to the Finance Manager and serves as a subject matter expert on contracts, procurement, invoicing, and cross-departmental financial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial information using statistical analysis, simulations, and predictive modeling to develop business solutions
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor automated financial information systems and budgets
  • Communicate financial updates and results to leadership and stakeholders
  • Design and implement financial processes including training, timelines, reporting, and process improvements
  • Prepare detailed financial reports, spreadsheets, and schedules
  • Process general ledger entries in compliance with GAAP standards
  • Perform general ledger reconciliations and complex account analyses
  • Assist with procurement activities and invoicing as needed
  • Act as a liaison between departments and serve as a finance subject matter expert on cross-functional projects
  • Stay current on financial policies, procedures, and best practices relevant to higher education and government environments

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or accounting
  • Experience with data gathering, financial modeling, and forecasting
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and report development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
