Overview

This Financial Analyst role supports planning and informed decision-making through reliable financial analysis. Responsibilities include maintaining reporting, comparing actual results to expectations, and helping communicate key performance drivers.

Forecasting involves uncertainty, so the role emphasizes transparent assumptions and clear presentation of alternative scenarios—particularly when outcomes depend on variables that may change. You may move between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions within the same week, with a focus on ensuring calculations are checked, assumptions are clear, and conclusions support decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.

Requirements

  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind a financial change.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Clear written communication skills, including the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Financial models and schedules must remain understandable after the immediate task is complete, including clear labels, documented assumptions, reasonable checks, and organized formulas.
  • Due to the remote nature of the role, dependable communication and self-management are important, including organizing work, responding to reasonable update requests, and using shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear.
