Overview
This Financial Analyst position focuses on producing dependable financial analysis that supports planning and informed decision-making. The role involves maintaining reports, comparing actual results with expectations, and helping communicate key performance drivers.
You may move between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions within the same week. Core expectations include checked calculations, clearly stated assumptions, and conclusions presented in a way that supports decisions.
Responsibilities
- Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
- Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, explaining meaningful variances.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
- Conduct variance analysis that goes beyond stating whether a number is higher or lower; identify operational or financial drivers when information allows and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
- As you become familiar with recurring reports and planning cycles, identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen documentation, and make financial information easier for colleagues to review and use.
Requirements / What You Bring
- Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
- Ability to manage assigned priorities independently while collaborating through digital tools in a remote environment.
- Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
- Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
- Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
- Experience performing variance analysis that identifies drivers and helps determine whether variances are temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or require further review.
