Overview

This entry-level Financial Analyst role supports recurring financial reporting and helps answer questions about revenue, expenses, budgets, forecasts, and operating performance. Work often begins with variance analysis—comparing plan vs. actual performance—and involves identifying what accounts or operating factors drove the movement, verifying underlying information, and communicating results with appropriate context.

Forecasting requires clear, visible assumptions. You will be expected to present alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision—especially when outcomes depend on variables that may change.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Support improvements to recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
  • Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Perform variance analysis that goes beyond stating whether results are higher or lower; help identify drivers behind movement and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or require further review.
  • As recurring reports and planning cycles become familiar, look for opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen documentation, and make financial information easier for colleagues to review and use.

Requirements / What You Bring

  • Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Ability to manage work independently and communicate reliably in a remote environment (organize work, respond to reasonable update requests, and use shared digital tools to keep responsibilities visible and handoffs clear).
