Overview

This role involves supporting budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis of business performance. The position is focused on working carefully with financial information and clearly explaining what the numbers mean in practical terms.

Work includes both routine reporting and forward-looking analysis. Some tasks follow regular financial cycles, while others require comparing scenarios, investigating variances, and connecting financial results to the operational activity behind them.

Forecasting involves uncertainty, so assumptions should be transparent rather than hidden within calculations. When outcomes depend on variables that may change, you should be comfortable presenting alternative scenarios instead of relying on a single estimate.

Responsibilities

  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting by organizing assumptions, updating schedules, and checking calculations.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Help improve recurring financial reporting processes while maintaining appropriate review controls.
  • Review source information and validate calculations before financial analysis is distributed or relied upon.
  • Conduct variance analysis beyond stating that a number is higher or lower; identify operational or financial drivers behind movement where the information allows, and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or need further review.

Requirements

  • Willingness to question inconsistent inputs and resolve or escalate discrepancies before completing an analysis.
  • Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
  • Strong numerical reasoning, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to checking financial information.
  • Interest in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forward-looking business planning.
  • Ability to produce technically reliable financial work that is useful to decision-makers, with clear assumptions, reasonable checks, and concise explanations of key drivers.
  • Steady follow-through and organized communication to complete responsibilities independently while asking timely questions when clarification is needed.
