Overview

A leading provider of transportation, warehousing, and freight management solutions is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions. This role involves analyzing large datasets, preparing financial presentations, and delivering actionable insights to management. The analyst will work closely with operational teams and senior leadership to identify process improvements, develop forecasts, and monitor key financial metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly financial close activities, including preparing journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze financial reports and data to provide timely and accurate recommendations for management decision-making.
  • Develop, update, and monitor key performance indicators and financial dashboards, highlighting trends and variances.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to develop financial forecasts, performance reports, and variance explanations.
  • Conduct cost analysis and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Provide senior management and operational teams with in-depth financial insights to support strategic initiatives.
  • Create ad hoc reports and perform detailed financial analysis as needed for various projects and initiatives.
  • Assist in process improvements and special projects aimed at enhancing financial operations and reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain strong communication with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial goals and operational strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in financial planning, analysis, or modeling.
  • Strong data analytics and mining skills to interpret complex datasets.
  • Preferred experience in logistics or operations environments.
  • Ability to exercise moderate independent judgment with guidance from supervisors.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with MS Access or other database tools is advantageous.
  • Highly detail-oriented and analytical, with the ability to communicate trends clearly.
  • Excellent organizational skills and self-motivation to thrive in a team environment.
  • Understanding of collaboration with operational personnel at multiple organizational levels.
  • Quality program certifications such as Six Sigma, ISO, or LEAN are preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with financial analysis, data analysis, forecasting, financial reporting, Excel, and cost reduction.
