Overview

This role involves producing dependable financial analysis that supports planning and informed decision-making. You will maintain financial reports, compare actual results against expectations, and help communicate key performance drivers.

Forecasting often involves uncertainty, so assumptions should be visible rather than hidden inside calculations. You should be comfortable presenting alternative scenarios when a single estimate could create a false sense of precision—especially when outcomes depend on variables that may change.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
  • Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
  • Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
  • Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
  • Support KPI reporting by connecting financial measures with relevant operational context.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, management summaries, and ad hoc analyses for stakeholder review.
  • When analysis indicates movement between plan and actual performance, identify which accounts or operating factors contributed, verify underlying information, and communicate results with appropriate context.
  • Provide variance analysis that goes beyond whether a number is higher or lower, including identifying operational or financial drivers behind the movement where the information allows.

Requirements

  • Ability to compare results, identify material variances, and explain the drivers behind financial changes.
  • Comfort learning organization-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
  • Comfort using Microsoft Excel or comparable spreadsheet software for calculations and organized financial schedules.
  • Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
  • Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
