Overview
This role involves providing dependable financial analysis to support planning and informed decision-making. You will maintain reporting, compare actual results with expectations, and communicate important performance drivers.
Work may include moving between financial statements, spreadsheet schedules, operating metrics, and forecast assumptions during the same week. Across all tasks, calculations must be checked, assumptions kept clear, and conclusions presented in a way that supports decisions.
Variance analysis should go beyond stating whether a number is higher or lower—where the information allows, you will identify operational or financial drivers behind the movement and explain whether differences appear temporary, recurring, assumption-driven, or in need of further review.
Responsibilities
- Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and other financial or operating measures to identify performance drivers.
- Compare actual financial results with budgets, forecasts, and prior periods, and explain meaningful variances.
- Perform trend, sensitivity, and scenario analysis to show how changing assumptions may affect expected results.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet-based financial models for planning, comparison, and scenario analysis.
- Reconcile information across schedules or reports and investigate material inconsistencies.
- Document model logic, assumptions, and analytical methods so work remains understandable and reusable.
Requirements
- Comfort learning company-specific reporting definitions, schedules, and planning processes.
- Organized documentation habits and an appreciation for traceable financial analysis.
- Foundational understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and basic accounting principles.
- Clear written communication and the ability to summarize financial information for non-specialist stakeholders.
